Morning light

This morning after I got Sullivan dressed for the day, the light was pouring in through the windows so we went out and embraced it.  I tossed a blanket onto the damp grass and let Sully explore.  He is great at that. Exploring is something he does all day.  His world is getting bigger.   Things on the floor are no longer as exciting, as he has his sights on counter-tops and inside cabinets.  I know that this will just continue and his horizons will open up as he grows.  These are amazing times I tell you, truly amazing.  Mornings spent with him make me feel inspired.

Parkin it at the park

Our family just loves being outside.  For me it's therapeutic to get out of the house and breath in some fresh air and soak up a healthy dose of vitamin d.  I think Sullivan agrees.  He gets so relaxed in the swing and loves, I mean loves to people/baby watch.  Hmmm...wonder where he gets that from?  So today we ventured to a different park nearby.

There were more kids at this park than our usual one which I liked.  One two year old little girl really wanted to play with Sully.  As she was leaving I could hear her say "baby" over and over again.  Adorable.
It was a glorious day.  The weather was perfect.
I love everything about this.

His facial expressions make me smile, so basically all day I walk around with a smile on my face. Oh and check out that strong leg!
This is the swirl.

This is what 90% of my pictures looked like because this boy is on the go.

Random Note:  While tickling Sully he got goosebumps for the first time today!

Bang Reveal

I told you yesterday that I chopped bangs into my hair.  Sooo here is how they turned out.....

I think they are pretty cute. Not perfect, but cute none-the-less.  My hair in general is a messy/bed-head/beach hair kind of style so I think it works.

What do you think? Am I totally crazy for doing this??  Hahaha!

Out for a run in the sun with the babe.

Hair cutting adventures

Recently I started cutting Arty's hair (with the helpful teachings of you-tube) and last night I went to town snipping away at his overgrown locks.  I was in the zone and he ended up with basically a buzz cut that I did with just scissors.  Well today he comes home from dental school and says that people were telling him that the back of his hair has some issues...meaning its uneven.  You can imagine my reaction and dismay at this sad news.  Now I need to whip out the clippers and even things out.  He was so sweet about it and said that I did a good job on his hair.  Thanks honey!

I've been thinking for a while that I want to cut bangs into my hair so today I watched two you-tube videos and followed this tutorial sort-of and started cutting.

I took a gradual approach so my bangs are on the longer side.  I figure that I can always cut more, (which I may do tomorrow) but I didn't want to cut too much.  I'll post pictures tomorrow.  I think they turned out pretty cute, Arty agrees.

Check out this cutie pie with peas on his face.  He didn't love it but at least he didn't cry like he did when he tried pears.

He could probably use a little hair trim but I will leave that one to the professionals. :)

Sweet Sunday

Started today off with a walk to Starbucks to grab a morning bun (soooo good heated up) for Arty and a non-fat latte for me.
This is what the command center of the BOB looked like towards the end of the walk. Water, empty latte cup, and my cute ipod.
Sleepy boy napping in the stroller.
Beautiful day here.  I parked it under this tree and let Sully nap while I played with my camera.
This was me playing around with the camera :)
When he woke up we went to the park and swung on the swings.
He was having fun but remember that he had just woken up.  He takes awhile to fully get energized after a nap. Haha!
We had a great day!!

And to top it all off Arty made this Asparagus and Shiitake Mushroom Risotto with mushrooms that we got at the farmer's market yesterday.

It was unbelievably delicious!  Thanks babe.

10 Months Old (8.23.11)

Wow! Another month has flown right on by.  I love him more than I can possibly put into words! This has been a big month in terms of development for Sully.
Stats:
Weight: 23.6 pounds
Height: 30 inches
Clothes range from 9 months in some things and up to 2T in others like some of his t-shirts.
Size 4 diapers
He's been saying mama, dada, sometimes papa, and lots of noises one sounds like "that" and another sounds like "this".  I must say that the little "words" and noises that he makes are one of my favorite things so far.
Firsts this month:
  • He can open cabinets and drawers and I saw him trying to open the toilet today(Yikes!).
  • He stands up while holding on to just about anything and then likes to let go and balance by himself.
  • He drinks water from a cup assisted and from a straw too.  We do the put your finger on one end of the straw and drop the water into his mouth thing but he has sucked the water up on his own a few times.
  • He knows how to clap his hands and sometimes does it when I ask him to clap clap clap.
  • He can do high fives...and always smiles while doing it.
  • When I ask him to come here he crawls to me, he knows what "are you hungry means" and "bath-time" too.  He is so smart and I love that he is totally starting to understand things so I have stepped up our conversations some haha!
  • He absolutely loves it when you let him hold your fingers so he can walk around.
  • Another thing that he gets excited about is being chased.  He loves you to follow him while he crawls away and then he will stop and sit and then scream with happiness.  So awesome!
  • Oh yeah...he laughs in the car sometimes...this is new and very much LOVED.

He is always always busy.
He really is almost smiling most of the time.

True love baby boy. True love.

A look into what's on my mind...

  • I wish I could say Sullivan is 100% sleeping in his crib. I have more to work on in this department.  He sleeps in his crib for the first half of the night and then I wobble into his room, pick him up, and carry him into our bed.  I nestle his body next to mine and let him nurse while we both drift off to sleep.
  • I have seriously been trying to feed Sullivan purees, pieces of baby friendly food, different fruits and vegetables and he still is barely interested.  Slowly now he has been picking up food here and there and feeding himself.  He's interested in what is on my plate but only to see what it feels like and then to put it on the floor.  He won't really let me feed him BUT he loves water from a straw so that's a win.  Anyone have a ten month old who shows no signs of slowing down on the breastfeeding anytime soon? Don't get me wrong I love love love (really love) nursing but I also want him to enjoy food in the near future.
  • Got a gym membership to the university's rec center.  They have childcare so I am looking forward to seeing how that goes.  Both the childcare experience and working out :)
  • Every mom says it but I really can't believe my little baby is two months away from being one year old. I'm already trying to process that thought.
Well that's all I have right now.  I know this was a pretty random post so thanks for hanging in there with me.

So not afraid to get dirty

Evidence that this sweet boy is not afraid of a little or alot of dirt.  He just can't get enough of the outdoors and I don't blame him one bit.

I love this picture from our fishing trip in Arizona.
This sandy faced picture was taken in California.  He is covered in sunscreen and sand. LOVE.
Oh those toes!
Another picture from a different day at the beach in California.  Same situation going on with the sand and sunscreen.  Sully wore the same outfit for most of the beach days because the rash-guard/sunscreen shirt helped keep the sun off and his cute board-shorts covered most of his legs.

What do you get when you mix water, sun, and swings?

Sully and his cousin Ada playing!
Getting sprayed!
You're getting sleepy
very sleepy...
Out...
Proof that you can fall asleep in an outside swing.

Fun times.

Rest your head on my shoulder

I love that I can sweep him up in my arms and instantly calm him down.  Nothing quite compares to that moment. Nothing at all.

P.S. My arms are proof that I get lots of baby snuggle time as they have gained strength post baby and my left shoulder has a couple nibble marks on it since Sully has been teething.  Now he has 8 teeth!
